The Portland International Airport was undertaking a major renovation and repurposing of one of the two airport security checkpoint lobbies. In order to make way for the space’s new use, Viking Engineering + Construction undertook a major selective demolition, including lighting and furniture fixtures weighing several thousand pounds each. This was all completed directly on top of the airport’s famous terrazzo flooring world map, without any chips or damage.
